The boy in this painting is younger than that, though not by much in the ways that count. He stands square in a black tracksuit striped red, white and blue, white sneakers planted, jaw set, looking straight out at a world that has already made some assumptions about him and has not yet been corrected.
The name is not an accident. Neither is the stance.
